Channelling your Inner Shakti

Posted on June 14, 2018 at 8:15 AM

Something I’ve been contemplating in my own life recently is the influence of energy in our lives. Whether male or female we all have feminine and masculine energy within, and in different domains of our lives these forces are either activated or can lie dormant or even suppressed. For instance in a male dominated work place, where we may need to be assertive, instructive and make things happen, we need to activate our male energy otherwise known as Shiva, to get things done on a very p...

Love thy self

Posted on June 14, 2018 at 8:15 AM

Something I have been reflecting on recently is the idea of making a difference and leading a fulfilled life. So many of us go about our llives really wanting to make a contribution to the outside world and to affect the wellbeing of others in a positive way.

However most of us, at least at times in our lives, can be harsh, critical and judgemental of ourselves in ways we would never dream of being towards others.

I have been reflecting on the idea that maybe it goes the other way...

Reflections on The Secret Within by AnneMarie Postma

Posted on June 14, 2018 at 8:10 AM

“ When life becomes difficult for a moment, if it doesn't go the way we planned, we just take a little pill.

MYTHS!

1.) We have a universal right to happiness and mental health, which, if all else fails, we can claim from our family doctor by way of a prescription.

2.) We can grow without going through life’s unavoidable phases of fear, doubt and pain.

The Beauty of Life...

Posted on June 14, 2018 at 8:05 AM

Life is a complex series of events, challenges, beautiful moments and then pain.

It can at times make you feel like giving up, giving in to the adversities and challenges that are uniquely placed along your life’s journey.

You meet an interesting person- someone who shows you a new way of being or a different lens through which to view the world.

Or you start a new job venture, accomplish a challenge, surmount a previously i...

Posted on June 11, 2018 at 6:35 AM

Today we are facing an epidemic of anxiety, affecting everyone from those as young as our infants with feeding and sleeping difficulties and our very young children with school refusal and behavioral difficulties.

Anxiety has multiple contributing factors that lead to its development. We know that there is a genetic component, that is, the children of either one or both anxious parents are more likely to experience anxiety.

Then there is our individual temperament or personality, ...

Authenticity

Posted on June 10, 2018 at 7:10 AM

What does it mean and how can we work towards living a more authentic life?

Authenticity is simply to live genuinely, honestly and in alignment with our true characteristics and self. It may seem like an easy principle, however in reality is much more difficult to put into practice. This is often because we can go for many years not knowing who we really are and what we stand for as a person. When we aren’t quite sure of ourselves and our place in the world, it is difficult...

Stigma

Posted on June 10, 2018 at 7:05 AM

Stigma is related to the shameful feelings we develop when experiencing difficulty with an issue in our lives. It is what alienates us from others when we feel that what we are going through cannot be spoken about.

Stigma brings us experiences and feelings of self-blame, secrecy, hopelessness and distress. For many years mental health issues have been misrepresented in the media contributing to many people’s reluctance to seek help, causing us to feel isolated and more alone.

HOPE

Posted on June 9, 2018 at 8:15 PM

Always have HOPE.....

We learn our biggest lessons from the challenges and adversities we face, which we may not enjoy or even like, but if we can ACCEPT things as they are now and RIDE the wave as they flow through our life, we lessen the struggle and enable them to pass more easily.
